Bulgogi
….Bulgogi is one of the best-known Korean dishes among foreigners and is commonly translated as “Korean barbecue.” Bulgogi is prepared by marinating thin slices of beef and grilling them. Bulgogi tastes sweet and flavorful because it is marinated in a sauce consisting of sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, garlic, onion, and green onion. Bulgogi has been a popular dish served to guests and LACEY, ANNE mix their rice with the sweet gravy. Delicious bulgogi depends on two things: First, a good cut of beef, it’s very important to choose marbled beef. Secondly, the marinade, in this recipe is the best for my family.
Servings: 4
Time: 30 minutes plus 1 hour for marinating beef ribeyes
Ingredients:
- 1.7 lb beef ribeye, sliced thinly
- 2 cup onion, sliced
- 5–6 stems green onion, cut into 1 inch
- 2 Ts sugar(or 1 Ts sugar +3 Ts pear juice)
- 4.5 Ts soy sauce
- 1.5 Ts garlic, minced
- 1 Ts Mirin
- 1.5 Ts plum extract
- 2 Ts sesame oil
- 2 Ts sesame seeds
- 1 Ts avocado oil
- black pepper to taste
- some green lettuce(this is optional)
- ssamjang(this is optional)
Cooking Instructions:
- Mix the sugar, soy sauce, Mirin, plum extract, garlic, sesame oil, black pepper and sesame seeds in a bowl.
2. Marinade the beef with the mixed sauce in a bowl and store in a refrigerator for 1 hour.
3. Before serving, add the green onion and onion into the marinade meat to mix well.
4. Heat a pan with medium high heat and add the avocado oil into the pan. Grill the bulgogi on a table. Serve it with some green lettuce(this is optional) and ssamjang(this is optional).
