Grilled Beef Short Ribs(Galbi-Gui)
….I am really excited for Galbi -Gui from the start of preparing the ingredients, because it’s everyone’s favorite. Seasoning is important, but you have to buy great quality beef short ribs. Sometimes we grill it without seasoning and enjoy the original taste of the beef short ribs. However still the marinaded beef short ribs are the best. Such dish is often prepared on gas or charcoal grills on the dining table itself. The smell of grilling beef short ribs works up a family’s appetite. It tastes sweet, savory, and perfectly delicious. I used some fresh garlic stems from my garden as garnish.
Servings: 5–6
Time: 40 minutes plus 1 hour for marinading and 1 hour for soaking with cold water
Ingredients:
- 4.4 lb beef short ribs, soaked with cold water for 30 minutes
- 1 onion
- 1/4 cup garlic
- 2 cup pear
- 2 1/3 cup water
- 2/3 cup soy sauce
- 3 Ts sesame oil
- 1 ts black pepper
- 1/4 cup Mirin
- 5 Ts sugar
- 3 Ts sesame seeds
- 3 Ts plum extract
- 1 Ts ground ginger
- 5 stems green onion, minced
Cooking Instructions:
- Remove the blood, excess fat and impurities by soaking with cold water for 1 hour. Sift the meat and set aside.
2. Score each meat piece lightly.
3. Grind the onion, garlic, pear and water with a blender. Pour them into a bowl.
4. Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, Mirin, sugar, sesame seeds, plum extract, ground ginger juice, and green onion into the bowl. Mix them well.
5. Add the beef short ribs into the bowl and mix well all together. Store it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
6. After 1 hour, heat a pan with medium high heat and grill the marinaded beef short ribs.
7. Serve it with a bowl of rice.
