Skewers with Sausage and Rice Cake
….We call this dish “so-tteok so-tteok”. It is a popular Korean street food consisting of skewers made of pan-fried rice cake and vienna sausage with spicy sauce. When my daughter ANNE visited Korea a couple of years ago, she tried this from a rest stop on a highway. She walked around to taste some street snacks, and among all the different delicious-looking food this snack got all her attention. It looked pretty easy, and it tasted as fantastic as it looked. It tasted a little crispy and chewy as the rice cakes were cooked on the grill with a little bit of avocado oil before it was served. Last Saturday afternoon, my husband wanted to eat some snacks. He asked me about this dish….Why does he want to eat this? My husband’s taste is still like a child’s. Snacks are attractive when they can be served quickly. Simple ingredients and quick time filled my husband’s hunger and memories. I also tried garnishing with the basil flower from my garden, which almost fell off.
